Westfinder presents: Corporation, by Rowan Abraham

Hey everyone! We're really sorry about the cancelation of the Halloween Tavernight, we were really looking forward to that. However, do not be dismayed, because its time to announce the November Bootleg!
Presenting; Corporation, by Rowan Abraham

for a quick refresher on this cyberpunk corporate dystopia, here are the two teasers

The first one:

The inverted garden was a masterpiece of engineering - hung from the ceiling of one of the largest rooms in the Corporation, the size of a dozen aircraft hangers, it provided a counterpoint to the start sterility of the offices and conference-rooms beneath. Gravity in the region was somehow turned in upon itself; the tended wilderness did not hang down, but up, towards the sky. There were rumors of hidden trapdoors, ready to drop unsuspecting interlopers into the sky, and stories of strange creatures, products of genetic manipulation beyond the ken of mere office-workers. And so, as flames crackled across it, some of the trees fell. The largest of them broke through a weakened portion - made of glass, to allow visitors to truly understand the power the Corporation had over them and the world - and hurtled up towards the sky. With it fell a tiny figure, cowering in the branches of the tree, staring in horror down at the carnage on the floor of the building.

Dominic woke, screaming, covered with a cold sweat. He was an old man, even with extensive genetic revitalization treatments, and his heart had stopped momentarily, before being jump-started by one of the many tiny robots floating throughout his body. Staring up at the ceiling - merely an inverted pool, with fish swimming in it in complex, strangely hypnotic patterns - he tried to remember where he was. By the time he did, the voice of the Computer had been talking for a few seconds already: "... recorded and available for viewing or analysis whenever you feel capable, Mr. Obadiah. Welcome back to the waking world, and, on the behalf of the shareholders of the Corporation, I would like to wish you a very pleasant day."

Dominic slowly slide to his feet, stretching them out of the bed to slip into slippers. Tottering slightly, he walked towards the one door to the room, passing through unheedful of the possibility of traps – which would have proven fatal to most of his subordinates – collapsed at a table, where a mug of coffee sat, steaming slightly. With the first sip he began to appear more alert; by the time the cup was empty he was once again filled with the energy billions of people relied upon for leadership. He stood, and walked towards the window, and through it onto a balcony. Leaning out, looking over thousands of miles of buildings – smoking craters, massive underground greenhouses, industrial complexes dwarfing anything which existed a mere century ago, the glints of rockets bringing new satellites to orbit, and delivering more dangerous payloads to other parts of the planet – he sighed. The Computer took this as a sign, and disturbed him once more. “The date is November 19th, 2091. Your agenda today is concerned with ...”

And now the second:

Salutations!

As a member of the board, upper levels, or significant stockholder in Seismic Dynamics Corporation, you have been chosen to be invited to the 2091 Seismic Dynamics Corporation conference. It will feature presentations by representatives of all divisions, as well as by a non-zero number of companies which the Corporation is considering acquiring.

As you may be aware, due to the recent collapse of the Indian continent, the global economy is in a state of collapse. To prevent incursions from competitors upon markets currently controlled by Seismic Dynamics Corporation, the President and Board may be planning on announcing budget cuts. Therefor, all invitees are strongly encouraged to attend, as their jobs may be at stake.

We also regret to inform you that, due to the lawsuit under the laws of the People's Meritocracy of the Pacific Continent, decision-making by combat is no longer company policy (the board having decided that, despite this being a long-standing tradition which many of the current leaders have taken part in, the People's Meritocracy is too important a market to alienate). Therefor, while combat is discouraged, we do not expect all employees to be able to restrain themselves from bringing weapons, especially considering the longstanding tendency of employees towards clearing the promotion ladder by force.

Be there or be liquidated.
Dominic Obadiah, President.
