One Big Thing & One Little Thing

Hello, Westfinders!

We hope everyone who can is planning to come to the game we have this Saturday. In a subversion of normal procedures for game preparation, character sheets will be given out at the game itself. World and Group backgrounds will be sent out beforehand, however.

This is not, in fact, because Ben Schwartz and Greg Schram are lazy: Rather, it is meant to emphasize the community aspects of the game rather than individual characters.

On a more important note, it has come to our attention that, though we have made no secret of it, staff has not yet said anything official to the whole community on a very important topic: The fact that Westfinder is no longer a part of Wayfinder, in any capacity.

This is for a few reasons, all of which boil down to the fact that Wayfinder, at the moment, does not have the manpower to be in charge of two incredibly lively organizations such as ours on separate coasts. This is not ideal, but certainly not a bad thing. Wayfinder is still an amazing community, and a community to which many Westfinders belong very powerfully.

As it stands, though, this leaves Westfinder in the position where we are, truthfully, nothing more than a group of friends playing in a park. We don't legally exist as an organization, and as such, don't have many things like insurance and waiver forms. What we do have, however, is a deep commitment to the safety and enjoyment of everyone who wants to play with us, something we take very seriously. To this end, we always have a first aid kit and and adult trained in administering it (Tom Kelly) at every game. We can't be legally responsible for everyone, but we do everything in our power to keep people safe and make sure they have a good time.

As always, we welcome your questions and opinions. Send them to our email, Westfinder@gmail.com, or add them as comments to our blog.

  1. So... I can start writing traumatizing games again and not get sued? :3

  2. Hell yes you can, Jesse. And if you're too radical for Westfinder, Mythos is only like two hours away (and we have no game-writers....)!
